1. What is the difference between a Psychic and a Medium? Let’s explore the differences.
What is a Medium?
This happens to be one of the common questions I am asked and there is a difference between a Psychic and a Medium. The term Psychic is like the general term used for people who works in the paranormal.
We are all Psychics to some degree – it’s a gift, and most people aren’t aware of this. Some people, however are a little more ‘aware’. We all know that we have five senses and then there is a sixth sense that is as real as our five senses. Psychic work involves sensitivity to non-physical or supernatural nature.
Not all Psychics are Mediums, Mediums are Psychics.
A Medium is a psychic who has fine tuned his or her abilities to interface with spirit and or the higher realms. Because of their sensitivity to energies, they are able to receive impressions from the spirit world.
A Medium is able to become completely receptive to the higher frequency or energies on which spirits vibrate.
Mediumship is much more involved than psychicism because a Medium is opening him/herself to a discarnate energy. Mediumship itself can be broken down into two distinct categories.
The first and most common type is mental mediumship, which is how I work with my abilities. I communicate with spirits and the higher realm while fully conscious. This form of mediumship utilizes the intuitive mind, not the rational or logical mind. There’s also Physical Mediumship and Trance Mediumship.
Mental Mediumship falls into distinct types:
Clairsentience – (clear feeling) Perceive information by way of strong, emphatic feelings and emotions from spirit.
Clairvoyant – (clear vision) See with the mind’s eye objects, colors, symbols, people, spirits or scenes. These pictures are not visible to the naked eye and usually flash into the medium’s mind.
Clairaudient – (clear hearing) Perceive sounds or words from sources broadcasting from a spiritual realm.
Clairgustance – (clear tasting) Discern the essence of a substance through taste from spirit.
Clairalience – (clear smelling) Smell a fragrance or odor coming from the spirit.
Clairtangency – (clear touching) This ability is commonly known as Psychometry. By holding an object or touching an area you perceive information about the article or its owner or history through the palms of your hands.
Please know – Not all Mediums work the same way, it’s not to say that one is better than the other. My most dominant sense is seeing (Clairvoyance) and feeling (Clairsentience), usually followed by any of the Clair’s above to support the dominant senses.
Automatic Writing or Psychography is my preferred tool of communication with spirit. Impressions come to me days or hours prior to doing Sessions with clients. I’m drawn to write the impressions on white paper and sometimes Spirit has me drawing the description of the person I’m supposed to be doing the Session for or a drawing of what the discarnate looks like.
Automatic Writing can be done consciously or in trance state. I am conscious as I allow Spirit to dictate the messages for me to write, this way they are aware that I am in control of the Session.
2. How do you conduct Spirit communication in your Group Sessions?
You’ll hear me say this a lot – In any of my Sessions, I will always point out that YOU are in charge, and you can do whatever you wish with the messages Spirit brings you.
I only ask for messages from Spirit that will bring the people who are participating in the session, and everyone else within their inner dynamics to their highest good.
I move around a lot, approaching participants and go through sheets and sheets of paper, just writing messages for people concerned – and because there’s usually lots of energies that show up to deliver their messages, I found it easier to ask Spirit to stand behind their loved one’s ~ it’s also one way for me to give them that special attention, and they like that I do that for them.
3. What should I do before my scheduled Private Session?
Intuitive Sessions – Contemplate on questions beforehand (if any) and write them down. Rest and relax the day before. I would not advise, rushing from work or an errand, because I read energy and I will definitely feel yours. So take some time to be quiet before your session.
Mediumship Sessions – Relax and allow whoever wants to speak to you, come through because there is always reason for this to happen. You will not always get to talk with loved one you wish to come through for you. Always come with an open heart to receive.
My Sessions are pretty casual, you won’t hear me throw words at you, you’re free to interject, and know that you are safe and you get to take home the impressions.
4. Where can I buy Crystals?
Go to a physical place meaning – Go to a Metaphysical Bookstore. I wouldn’t advise going on-line when you are exploring the possibilities about owning your first crystal. Allow yourself to tune in to which crystal to take home and the best way to do this is to go to a metaphysical bookstore.
5. Do Reiki Practitioners / Therapists carry a Liability Insurance?
Yes. In many areas, the practice of Reiki is regulated, often by the same governing board that may regulate massage therapy and bodywork. Even though Reiki is typically considered a form of energy work, it is important for prospective practitioners to find out whether this modality is regulated as a form of touch therapy. https://www.nacams.org/reiki/
